Our Commitment to Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND)

At the Moorland Federation, we understand that every child is unique, and some may face additional challenges during their educational and life journey. That's why we're dedicated to providing exceptional support for our students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). We want every child to flourish to have life in all its fullness and we are committed to ensuring we provide all we can from spaces and resources to well trained staff in order for every child to thrive.

We recognise that around one in five children will have special educational needs at some point during their school career. To cater to these diverse needs, we have a team of dedicated Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) who work closely with our teaching staff. Our LSAs are specifically trained to provide tailored support to our SEND students, ensuring they receive the individual attention they need to thrive academically and socially.

In addition to our skilled LSAs, we pride ourselves on our expertise in SEND. Our staff receive ongoing training to stay up-to-date with the latest strategies and best practices for supporting students with additional needs. We also have dedicated SEND leads and governors who work closely with our staff to ensure our SEND provision remains top-notch.

Our schools are equipped with sensory rooms, providing a calming and supportive space where children with sensory sensitivities can relax and refocus.
