Exmoor's Mini Police Force
The Mini Police Programme is a fantastic opportunity for children to learn about community responsibility, safety, and policing in a fun and interactive setting.
We're excited to share that our Mini Police force, made up of Year 4 children from Cutcombe, Exford & Timberscombe First Schools, enjoyed an adventure-packed educational visit to the Avon & Somerset Police Wilfred Fuller Centre in Clevedon.
It was a unique opportunity for our young officers to dive into the world of law enforcement and discover the incredible work our police teams do every day.
The visit involved -
Meeting the Mounted Police: Getting up close with these noble horses and learn about their significant role.
Road Safety Education: Understanding the importance of keeping our roads safe.
Exploring Drones: Discovering cutting-edge technology in policing.
Police Dogs in Action: Witnessing these talented canines and their specialised training.
The children were able to interact with each team, soaking up knowledge and understanding about various aspects of policing. The police animal displays were amazing!
Our huge thanks to Linda Moden & Michelle Haimes our local PCSO, for enabling our children to take part in this fantastic programme.
The Mini Police Programme
Is a dynamic and interactive experience for children, designed to engage them in community issues and policing activities. The eight session programme covers hands on activities, including brainstorming and identifying local community issues they wish to address, such as litter picking, farmwatch, speeding, antisocial behavior, or parking. The children will go out into the community to implement their chosen action plan.
Once they have completed their training, all mini officers will take part in a 'passing out ceremony' where they will receive their achievement certificates.
