A Celebration of Curiosity & Discovery!

This week, young scientists from across The Moorland Federation came together at Dunster First School for an incredible Science Fair, where they proudly showcased their projects, explored fascinating scientific ideas, and even enjoyed dinner together!

This year's fair was bigger and better than ever thanks to the amazing support of Ada in Porlock. Leading up to the event, representatives from Ada in Porlock visited our schools, inspiring our pupils with the legacy of Ada Lovelace and helping launch their Science Fair projects.

🔬 What did our young scientists explore?
🌟 Investigations – Answering big questions like ‘How many stars can we see?’ and ‘Do plants need light to grow?’
💡 Problem-solving – Finding creative solutions to everyday challenges
📖 Research projects – Diving deep into the wonders of science

Our judges loved seeing the children's creativity and enthusiasm, engaging with them to discuss their findings. Pupils also had the chance to learn from each other’s projects, sparking even more curiosity and inspiration.

To round off an incredible day, everyone took part in a hands-on science workshop, delivered by Hands on Science, bringing scientific concepts to life in an exciting, interactive way!

A huge WELL DONE to all of our young scientists—your passion for discovery is truly inspiring!

A special thank you to Ada in Porlock for their support in making this year's fair such a success and to Hands on Science for delivering an exciting and engaging workshop for our pupils!
